Attended Tom’s Story‘s album launch at Route 196 last night.
At some point it got so crowded, about a dozen of us were forced on stage and couldn’t move without stepping on the band’s gear. Their songs don’t have lyrics, so everyone sang the guitar riffs.I don’t think I’m ever going attend a gig with a more wholesome and energetic crowd.

I organized my first show this weekend! SEISMOS: a post-rock and math-rock gig.
The backstory to this is I’d just started discovering local post-rock and math-rock acts after a year of living in Manila. I’d also joined a Facebook group called “Post-rock/Math-rock PH” with hundreds of members. I posted there suggesting someone should organize a post-rock/math-rock themed gig that features local acts from the genre, who don’t normally get the spotlight. Things snowballed from there – a group chat of volunteers was formed, a logo and poster was made, a venue was booked.
And this Saturday, the gig finally happened. We honestly weren’t expecting much, since we’d organized this on a shoestring budget with no promotion apart from posting on the facebook group – but to our surprise a ton of people showed up and the venue got completely packed!
